Formaly known as: The Gift of Blossoms

One of my absolute favorite times of year is when the seasons begin to flirt with Spring. It's that sweet spot where we finally shed the Winter Blues and lean into warmer days. But if you're from the DMV Urrrea, you know there’s more to the seasonal shift—this is Cherry Blossom season 🌸✨
Like clockwork, I start peeking at the peak bloom predictions as early as February. Because March? Oh, she's moody. The weather plays coy, and it's a guessing game between frost and full bloom. This year, the peak would be Saturday, March 29th—my planning was set in motion.

Now let’s talk logistics. As a Washingtonian, we know better—TOURISTS and TRAFFIC galore! I’ve danced this dance before, and trust me, a Saturday downtown during peak bloom is not for the faint of heart. But I came prepared—swapping the gripe for the grape and deciding to sip my way through the chaos.🌸

Stacked against me: The Crowds. The Weekend. The Weather. The Location. The Traffic. Still, I was determined. This was going to be my Grand Finale Sip Trip for March. So, I meditated, mustered my patience, and set that alarm for 5:00 a.m. sharp.
First stop: Tatte Bakery—technically walkable, but let's be honest…I’m a lil’ greedy when it comes to parking convenience. To my surprise, the roads already looked like rush hour before 8 a.m. Chile... clearly, everyone else had the same “early bird” idea.
I find parking on a side street n began walkin and taking in the scenery. Joggers. Families with strollers. Kites soaring. Runners racing. Scooters zooming. Ducks gliding. Photoshoots posing. And then... there’s me: A soft strut. Coffee in one hand, phone in the other. Shoulder bag in tow carrying my trusty tripod, AirPods, gloss, sanitizer, and all the cute essentials.

I paused by the WWII Memorial to soak it all in—and also because I had special guests this time. While I usually do my Sip Trips solo, I was surprised to be joined by my boys, who decided to rise and shine just for this moment. Not everyone is a morning fan, so their presence? A total love language.

Before hitting the Tidal Basin, we made a sweet pit stop by the tulip garden—a charming little prelude to the main event. We didn’t walk the whole TB route (bless my slow-and-steady pace), but that’s fine by me. I like to take my time, connect with people, and breathe it all in.

Speaking of people—if you’re solo, don’t be shy. There’s always a kind stranger ready to snap your photo. Will it be the perfect angle or flawless lighting? Probably not. But hey, it saves time and it’s part of the fun.

This year? A win. Would I brave another Saturday bloom? Sure! But next time, I’m booking a hotel nearby to dodge the morning madness or I'll experience them elsewhere. It felt like DC broke a record for visitors this year—and the traffic confirmed it.
And here’s the thing: Yes, the blossoms are beautiful. Yes, the crowds are wild. But the energy? The conversations with strangers? The feeling of being right where you’re meant to be—that’s what makes it magical. Photos and videos don’t do it justice. You just have to experience it for yourself.

Cherry Blossom 2025: Mission Complete, with a stroll, a sip and a spark!
But beyond the blooms, the real highlight was the epiphany I had that morning:This wasn’t just a trip. This was me following through on a manifestation. The odds were stacked high, but cancel on myself? Never. And that realization? Pure pride. My intention became my reality. Yes—Why not? No excuses 🌸

P.S. After a semi-walk around the TB and frolicking the lands, I was downtown for about 4 hours which is bout the minimum time I'd allot. I worked up an appetite and I tell ya one thing...I sure do miss the old halfsmoke days. I can't seem to capture the essence of my memory with these new hot dog stands **eyeroll**
ALSO NOTE: MAKE SURE to ask the price beforehand because them food trucks will try to get you the closer you are to the monument. A halfsmoke is typically $5-7-dont let them GANK u with putting a one in front...or the back!
